Being a member of the Board
To be a board member of Lundaekonomerna you need to have a good understanding and strong commitment to the union, because it is the Board who determines the strategic direction and future outlook of LundaEkonomerna. You have to be proactive and take initiative to further develop the union and to keep LundaEkonomerna moving forward. You will be representing the union as one of its ambassadors, therefore it is important to be social, outgoing and to be helpful to everyone.
The President is a full-time position and you will have to take a break in your studies for one year. You are compensated financially and are provided with an office at Skånis where you are supposed to be available during daytime. Some activities take place during the day and others during the evening or even both, so be prepared for 2-4 late evenings every week. Together with the other full-timers you are also responsible for the union’s facilities and you make sure that the daily activities run smoothly.
As president you are first and foremost a representative of the Union and you should be able to inspire and motivate in your leadership. Additionally your task is to lead the board in its work by being responsible for the board meetings as well as the evaluation and follow-up of the decisions and tasks assigned. Thus the role as president is twofold: You need to be social and outgoing as well as being structured and organized. You often face new and different situations so you need to be able to make quick, sometimes tough, decisions and learn from previous experience. You should also be comfortable with giving speeches to a large crowd and ensure to uphold and improve the relationships with the other student organizations in Lund and in Sweden.
Because of the collaboration with external parties, proficiency in Swedish is a requirement for this position.
Do not hesitate to contact the current president if you have any questions!
