Ordförande för Internationella utskottet

Post description (President INTU)

1. Describe the committee/activity

Lundaekonomerna’s International Committee works to integrate LUEK’s Swedish and International members through social activities. We also act as a bridge between LUEK and International students enabling them to take advantage of all of the union’s events and activities.

2. What are the main lines of work?

This year INTU developed a new concept called City Tours. The aim of City Tours is arrange day trips to locations in the region so that International students can see more of Sweden. The aim is also to arrange trips that attract both Swedish and International students to enable interaction between them.

We have a standing cooperation with the Law Faculty (Juridiska Föreningen) and the student union at LTH called Jetlag (Jurister, Ekonomer, Teknologer) where we arrange activities so that students from different faculties can meet.

We have started a cooperative project with Uppsalaekonomerna whereby the two student unions visit each other for a day and night of fun. We will visit Uppsala in March and compete against them in various games during the day and party with them at night. They will visit us in the autumn.

3. Timeframe: How much time do you put down every week? More or less on some weeks?

The amount of time really depends, of course near large events you can expect to have to spend more time on INTU. I spend at least 6 hours a week doing committee work.

4. What do you believe are the main personal characteristics needed for the post?

It is very important that you are motivated to work toward integration between Swedish and International students. However, perhaps even more important, is your ability to motivate your committee members. You need to possess strong leadership capabilities as well as a good mix of optimism and realism. You need to be prepared to work hard! English language skills are important!
