President of the Corporate Relations Committee
1. Describe the committee/activity
The Corporate Relations Committee is a subdivision of LundaEkonomerna devoted to bringing the students at the School of Economics and Management closer to the corporate world. The purpose is to create contacts and build relations between the students and Swedish as well as international organizations and companies. We do this by arranging events such as a breakfast club and corporate events on the school or at the companies where students and companies get a chance to meet. The webpage is regularly updated with current events throughout the term.
In short, we provide you with the opportunity to meet future employers and get a glimpse of what the future might hold after graduating from the School of Economics and Management.
Today we are 14 members: one contact person for each partner company, one responsible for the breakfast club and one responsible for the “external companies” (those companies that only visit our school once a year) with an international student and a novisch.
2. What are the main lines of work?
Since every member are responsible for his/hers company the mail lines of work are focused on the company event. As the president for the committee you should make sure that each member know what to do and what is expected of them. You should attend every event and make sure that you have regular meetings where feedback is given after every event.
To make sure the workload is somewhat equal I have divided the committee into three teams. For each event one team will be responsible to help the responsible contact person.
As the president, the focus will be on making sure the event is being marketed in time, through the right forum and that the students are happy with what the committee accomplished. You should make sure there is a great team spirit in the committee and that everybody knows what needs to be done, when and how.
3. Timeframe: How much time do you put down every week? More or less on some weeks?
A week with an event: 4-6 hours (depending on how much marketing is needed and if I am a part of the team which is responsible to help the responsible contact person). If it is a big and “unpopular” event of course you need to spend more time marketing.
A week without an event: 2 hours
4. What do you believe are the main personal characteristics needed for the post?
· Need to be structured and organized, plan events and meetings.
· Need to have an interest in the companies and the events, and attended our events to be able to have a clear picture of what the committee is doing.
· Should not be afraid of conflicts (there are always some members that are less enthusiastic than others).
· The person who will be president must be enthusiastic and outgoing, to be able to create a fun atmosphere and team work. Is the president do not attend events or organize social events for the committee, then the team members will not feel the same responsibility for the arrangements.
