Ordförande för Utbildningsutskottet

The Education Committee is occupied with the core activity of LundaEkonomerna; surveillance of the education. The committee works as a link between the students and the university by ensuring an ongoing dialogue between all parties at LUSEM. The committee consists of approximately 20 student delegates all representing different programs and subjects and together you will represent ALL students at LUSEM in various board meetings.

Your task

Your task as vice president and later on president of the committee is to make sure that the work of the committee runs smoothly. This means that you will make sure that the committee works proactively and discusses relevant issues with LUSEM but you will have to work reactively as well when problems arise. A vital part of education surveillance is to make sure that the committee knows what the 4200 students of LUSEM think and to make sure that the right person at LUSEM gets this information.

Personal characteristics

You will have to be able to manage and inspire a large group of enthusiastic student delegates and manage the relationship with LUSEM in a good way. This requires excellent planning skills but you also have to be diplomatic, a good listener and not the least, have a great passion for educational matters and how LUSEM could improve.

Time

The exact responsibilities of the vice president and the president can be divided between the vice president and president as you wish yourselves. You will work closely with the Vice President of LundaEkonomerna.

You will be vice president for one semester and president for the following semester, in total one year. The amount of work put in in the committee varies during the semester, usually the work load is heavier in the beginning and the end of the semester as well as during and after Speak up Days. An average week for the vice president is 8-10 hours a week and for the president 10-12 hours a week. But as said before, this varies greatly throughout the semester.

Qualifications

It is a requirement that you are familiar with the work of the Education Committee and preferably been a member of the committee. The contact with LUSEM is in Swedish but the committee meetings are in English since we aim at reflecting the student body. You should therefore be comfortable with using both Swedish and English.
