Chief Editor of NÃ¥diga Lundtan
To be elected chief editor of NÃ¥diga Lundtan means an obligation that runs over two semesters. The first semester is a learning period when the elected is editor and the right hand of the chief editor. The second semester involves taking on the responsibility of the entire magazine and becoming legally responsible for the publication of the periodical. In general, the editor and the editor in chief have the same tasks, but the chief editor carries the responsibility.
Tasks and responsibilities
First and foremost, the chief editor should make sure he/she has time. Leading up to every issue, one should be prepared to spend 35 hours with lay out, correct proofs and more. Between every issue, the chief editor spends approximately 10-15 hours a week.
The most important part of the work is to inspire the whole editorial staff (the writers, photographers, illustrators, the layout-responsible, the ad-selling team and so on) and to keep them motivated. Creativity plays a big role here.
The second thing is to be well-planned. There are many balls in the air all the time and the chief editor should not be easily affected by stress. Dead-lines are to be kept and meetings must be carried out in well good time before the dead-lines. The chief editor makes a time plan for the semester and keeps it. To make the commitment as chief editor work with studies, the personal asset of being organized is crucial.
It is of course essential that the chief editor is fluent in Swedish and has an eye for writing. It is up to the editors to make sure the magazine does not include grammatical errors, misspellings, and so on.
Anyone who wants a rewarding experience with real responsibility and to be able to make a difference somewhere, NÃ¥diga Lundtan is the place to be.
