As the Treasurer and a part of the Board you are a part of both big and small decisions that concern our organization. As Treasurer you are expected to almost always be available at Skånis.
Except for the above, you have the overall responsibility over the finances of the Union. You set the budget for the organization together with the Board, manages its accounts and financial statements. Since you are most familiar with the financials, you are basically involved in all decisions that are likely to have financial consequences for the organization. This entails a great responsibility but also great opportunities to influence what happens within the Union. You also do follow-ups on various projects and work actively with investment decisions when there are financial resources about to be invested.
The Board consists of 9 members and you report to them as well as to the general council. To be a part of the Board requires a strong commitment and understanding of the Union and together the Board determines the strategic direction for LundaEkonomerna, is responsible for operational activities and key decisions within the organization.
In addition to the work with the economy you are expected to represent LundaEkonomerna in a variety of activities. As Treasurer, you also have a great freedom regarding which internal projects you want to work with within the Union. The work requires full time (as for the president, vice president and head of corporate relations) over a one year period.
The work is more time consuming in the year-end because you have to finish the financial statements, and the Winter Ball as well as eee takes a lot of your time. You should also be aware of that you can’t do your full-year accounts until July and that you then have to work all summer at skånis.
As a person, it is important that you are organized and possess the ability to gain an overall picture of different activities. Since the work as treasurer is of both strategic and operational nature, it is also important that you can plan your time and get things done. The work doesn’t require any previous experience but it is to prefer that you have completed the accounting course in business economics at A-level.
Since you are a part of the Board it is to prefer that you have a strong commitment and understanding of the functions of the organization.
Overall, the work is incredibly fulfilling but also a great opportunity, especially if you are interested in a career as an accountant. Furthermore, you are given plenty of opportunities to make contact with future employers.
It is an advantage, not a requirement, if you been active in the Union before.
