Being part of The Board

The Board is the highest executive body of LundaEkonomerna. The Board is ultimately responsible for the union and to run operations in a way that ensures LundaEkonomerna Student Union retains its status as a student union. The Board is responsible for the strategic directing of the union and the development of the organization. The Board also has the financial responsibility of the student union.

Besides being a part of the board every board member is also responsible for a specific area of expertise, along with being contact person for the many committees within LundaEkonomerna. Lastly, The Board represents LundaEkonomerna both internally and externally.


The Positions of The Board

Six out of ten board roles are full-time positions and therefore they are paid equal to the CSN-loan. However, four roles are half-time positions and I done while studying.

Being a Contact Person

The role of a board member entails much leadership, hence the title “manager”. Our 28 committees is the heart and soul of LundaEkonomerna and their activities and events is the foundation this student union rest upon. That responsibility comes with many administrative, financial, and managerial issues, which becomes the role of the board to guide through. As a mentor a board member will together with the collegial develop the budget, set expectations and goals, and aid the committee in any way needed. Simply put, the contact person is the bridge between the board and the committee. Want to develop your leadership skills? This is the perfect opportunity for you!

About The Board Work

A big part of being a board member is working for the unions preservation, improvement, and development. This could range from low level tasks to bigger strategical decisions. A couple of examples of these could be that we implement a better ticket system, develop our policies, construct the business year’s budget, or create a new business plan. This is very exiting since you’ll truly have the chance to make a difference and contribute with your own ideas towards LundaEkonomerna’s well-being. The board work is what resembles the most the assignments and responsibility of companies’ boards. Along with being the management team, who does the preparation in order to make decisions and ensure the implementation of them. Representation

Along with the responsibility of running LundaEkonomerna and its operations The Board also represents the student union internally and externally. It’s a most important part of the job and can at times be demanding, but in all honesty it’s mostly just fun! This entails attending LundaEkonomerna’s events and activities, but also to represent towards other student unions around Sweden, towards companies, and the rest of the student life in Lund. It’s impossible to be everywhere, but the intention is to represent our beloved union as much as possible while also being sustainable. President

The President is the uttermost responsible and spokesperson of the LundaEkonomerna, which includes leading the organization and working with strategic development. The President does this mainly by leading the Board in its work, being responsible for the board’s meetings as well as evaluation and follow-up of the decisions and tasks. In addition, the president is the highest representative, which includes representing LundaEkonomerna in the entirety of Sweden.

Vice President

The Vice President is the utmost responsible for the educational surveillance at Lund University School of Economics and Management (LUSEM). This includes close collaboration with the Educational Affairs Manager, the faculty and staff at LUSEM as well as other student unions through the umbrella organization LUS, Lunds Universitets Studentkårer. The main task is to represent the students and express their opinions in different contexts. In absence of the President the Vice President is tasked with the responsibility to perform their duties.

Communications Manager

The Communications Manager is uttermost responsible for the internal and external communication and marketing of the union. As well as being responsible for the LundaEkonomerna brand and the organization’s short and long term marketing strategies. This also includes handling LundaEkonomerna’s communication channels, such as the website. The role also entails being LundaEkonomerna’s representative in the Studentlund collaboration, working with student life matters. Furthermore, the Communications Manager is responsible for the administration of the members. This includes handling the info email, the LundaEkonom telephone, and answer general questions.

Corporate Relations Manager

The main purpose of the Corporate Relations Manager’s position is to offer all students at LUSEM the possibility to get in contact with potential employers. The Corporate Relations Manager is uttermost responsible for the career leg within LundaEkonomerna, to make sure our career activities run smoothly and to have a good relationship with the companies and external organizations that we collaborate with.

Internal Relations Manager

The Internal Relations Manager is responsible for our internal relations through communication within LundaEkonomerna. Stable internal relations within the union are based on good relationships between everyone within the organization. To have a transparent communication from The Board to the Collegium and ensure that information also is transferred to all Active members is therefore an important task. Above this The Internal Relations Manager is in charge of internal documents and Podio, the Union’s internal platform. This includes to keep all documentation updated and in a good standard.

Treasurer

The Treasurer has the overall responsibility of the Union’s finances. Bigger tasks are to set the budget for the organization together with the rest of the Board and to manage its accounts and financial statements. The Treasurer is basically involved in all decision-making processes that are likely to have financial consequences for the Union. This entails a great responsibility but also great opportunities to influence what happens within the Union. The Treasurer also do follow-ups on various projects and work actively with investment and procurement decisions.

Social Affairs Manager

The main responsibilities for the Social Affairs Manager is to support all active members who work with events and to continuously work with the alcohol culture of the union, ensuring that LundaEkonomerna’s social environment is thriving. The Social Affairs Manager will work closely with the Internal Relations Manager and together they will take the responsibility of the social leg of the Union.

Educational Affairs Manager

The Educational Affairs Manager works closely with the Vice President to improve the education and the study social environment for the students. The Educational Affairs manager is responsible for the student welfare work and education surveillance on faculty level (LUSEM). As Educational Affairs manager you are the contact person to the Education Committee and coordinate the educational surveillance at LUSEM. This includes a daily contact with the Education Committee, the faculty and staff at LUSEM as well as other student unions. The Educational Affairs Manager represent LundaEkonomerna and the students in several decision-making bodies at LUSEM.

International Affairs Manager

The International Affairs Manager are responsible for LundaEkonomerna’s work with internationalization, international members and international relations. The role includes much work towards master students because many of the international students at LUSEM are studying on master level. Furthermore, the international affairs manager is the international member’s voice in the board and therefore is ultimately responsible for the international perspective in the board’s decision making process.

Corporate Sales Manager

The Corporate Sales Manager is working with LundaEkonomerna’s career operations. Together with the Corporate Relations Manager, the corporate sales manager is responsible for coordinating all the career committees’ activities as well as strategically developing the career operations within the union. Beyond this, the role entails working independently towards finding new corporate relations in order to broaden the career opportunities within the union.
